Loss of Spouse’s Benefit Coverage

If you were covered through your spouse’s employer’s benefit plans, and he or she loses coverage, or can no longer cover you under his or her employer’s plan, you may enroll yourself and your dependents (if eligible) in American Greeting’s benefit plans, without having to wait for Open Enrollment. This is considered a qualifying life event.

If you experience a qualifying life event and want to make changes to your benefits, log into myAGBenefits or call the AGBenefits Service Center at (877) 213-6240.

Health Care/Dental/Vision

If you want to change your benefit elections due to a life event, the change in coverage must be consistent with the family status change. For example, if your spouse is terminated from his or her employer and your spouse or family was covered under that employer’s health care plan, you may enroll in coverage. You have up to 30 days after the qualifying event to make the change, unless you or your dependents are eligible for premium assistance under Medicaid or CHIP (you may have up to 60 days). Life & AD&D Insurance

You may want to consider adding Optional Life Insurance and Optional Family Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance for you or your dependents. Life and AD&D insurance provides financial protection for eligible and enrolled associates and family members due to death or covered injury. You have within 30 days after the qualifying event to make the change.

Health Savings Accounts

Your eligibility to make contributions to an HSA can change mid-year for many reasons. You can make changes to your pretax contributions at anytime during the year by logging into myAGBenefits. Go to: Change my Benefits>Events>Update HSA Contributions.

Flexible Spending Accounts

You may be eligible to change your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or, if you already participate in a FSA, make a change to your contributions. The American Greetings Healthcare Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account enables you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible medical, dental, vision (“limited purpose” if enrolled in an H.S.A.) and dependent care expenses. You have up to 30 days after the qualifying event to make the change.
